Addison's Wizard of Oz Party

We celebrated Addison's Fourth birthday in the Land of Oz. She has been telling us since the day after her third birthday that she wanted a "Dorothy" party, and so I had all year to plan this out in my head.  Since it's not really a popular mainstream movie/book, there wasn't a lot out there in way of decorations that were already made.  So I decided to go with rainbow colors to tie in the theme "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"  All in all, we had a wonderful time and I am so thrilled with how it all came out!

The cake that I made with the help of two friends, Kristen and Nicole

The beautiful sign my good friend Jenelle made for Addison

Party favors: Rainbow twizzlers and marshmallows
I think it says it all
Your way to our front door

People were confused by this.  First of all we don't have a doorbell and secondly, this is the sign that was on the door when Dorothy reached Oz.
The food table

We dined on mini corn dogs and sliders

Rainbow fruit
Animal crackers
A family guessing game, the winner won a gift card to Golden Spoon

I got this scarecrow craft from Oriental Trading Company

The amazing artistry of Kristen

This was a last minute addition...worth every penny!

Thanks Nana for making such a beautiful Dorothy dress!

Shannon's birthday

We celebrated my cousin Shannon tonight with our family. She is 29 years old and I just love her. She is the closest thing I have to a sister... So yeah, I tend to act like the big sister to her, poor thing. We had a great time laughing, talking, eating tacos and enjoying cake.

I went online to my new addiction, Pintrest, to get some inspiration for the birthday cake. I came across this technique and thought it was just beautiful. So I gave it a try and I was really happy with how it turned out! Happy birthday Shannie!!!

Sushi

Anyone who knows our family, knows that Justin is a HUGE fan of sushi...

He has passed this on to our oldest daughter in a big way! I like sushi a lot too, it was even where Justin and I went on our first date...but Justin takes it to a whole new level.  He has been taking Addison on sushi dates since she was just a few months old.  He would leave her in her car seat and put her on the table and all the waitresses would ooh and aww over her.  As she got older, she'd run around Joe's Sushi and eat rice and "beans" (edamame) and would have a blast.

Well, now she has moved on to eating the actual sushi.  She loves tuna and salmon and eats it dipped in soy sauce.  She loves it and asks us frequently if we can go to sushi for dinner.

We love to go with our amazing friends, Kristen and Bryan...here are some pics from a recent trip.

Brynnie likes the "beans" and rice

Kris loves sushi, but Bryan gets the teriyaki chicken
Here she is eating some salmon

Delicious!

Our Little Patient

Our Brynn had to get tubes in her ears a few weeks ago, after 6 ear infections in a little over a year's time.  Here she is in her little gown right before her surgery...

After her procedure, she was pretty out of it, and ended up throwing up all over me!  It was well worth it though...she's like a different kid now!  We are so glad we had it done.

Rain

How much fun it is to play in the rain!  We got Addie bundled up and sent her into the backyard with her umbrella and boots and she enjoyed one of God's purest parts of nature...RAIN!

Okay mommy, I'm wet, cold, and sandy...time for a nice warm bath!

St. Patrick's Day Breakfast

The Leprechauns came to visit us last night! Addie was so excited to see what they did!

First, they left Addie green milk and some skittles.

They left Justin his favorite cereal, Lucky Charms...

...and a box of kisses.

Even Brynnie had green milk!

Leprechauns don't flush??!!

Yum!  Tastes the same, but much more fun to drink!

Brynn was eating the "gold" kisses that the Leprechauns left sprinkled on the kitchen table.

"Mommy, the pancakes are green!  Those leprechauns are so silly!"

Green eggs...I have to say...YUCK!  But everyone else like them.

A perfect St. Patrick's Day Breakfast...

We thought for sure she wouldn't touch it cause it looked weird....but I guess since the girl will eat DOG FOOD, she had no problem with green food!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

An evening walk

We are loving that it's starting to get dark later and later! So, last night after dinner and baths were done, the sun was just starting to set, so we decided to take a family walk. We got the girls in warm jammies, and bundled them in a comfy blanket!  The girls love being in their wagon, and Justin and I love to look at the houses in the neighborhood and talk about what we like and what we would want to do to our future home someday...it was a win win!

Bye!
